Celebrity Cruises has revealed the results of one of its biggest-ever ship makeovers: Celebrity Reflection returns in March 2027 with 13 new spaces before settling into year-round Caribbean sailings from Fort Lauderdale.
The additions include a three-storey Grand Plaza with a chandelier show, duelling pianos, a games parlour and two brand-new poolside dining concepts.
She is the second Solstice Series ship to be, in Celebrity’s phrase, “made new again”, following Celebrity Solstice earlier this year.
What’s actually new
The centrepiece imports Celebrity’s flagship Edge Series design into a 2012-built hull: a dramatic three-storey Grand Plaza anchored by a centrally placed Martini Bar beneath a giant suspended chandelier, complete with scheduled chandelier shows and live music through the day.
Around it come venues proven elsewhere in the fleet: the 125-seat Boulevard Lounge with its duelling pianos and karaoke, and The Parlor sports-and-games lounge with billiards, darts, hundreds of board games and over-the-top milkshakes.
The dining line-up adds Roman restaurant Trattoria Rossa, the Forbes-rated Fine Cut Steakhouse with 30-day dry-aged steaks, and Bora, the Mediterranean rooftop concept that debuted on Celebrity Xcel last November.
Two genuinely new ideas make their fleet debut poolside: Orange Peel Bar & Grille (smashburgers and frozen cocktails) and a build-your-own taco stand, Tacos del Sol.
Up top, the reimagined Celebrity Pool Club adds two bars, daybeds, extra shade and private cabanas with dedicated attendants, while Sunset Park turns the aft top deck into a lawn-games-and-outdoor-cinema space with its own café and bar.
The Retreat — Celebrity’s ship-within-a-ship suite class — gains an enhanced sundeck with an oversized hot tub and a redesigned lounge.
President Laura Hodges Bethge said the new spaces are “designed to help guests relax, explore, and connect”.
Where she’ll sail
From March 2027, Reflection sails the Caribbean year-round from Fort Lauderdale: three- and four-night escapes to Key West and the Bahamas, and six- and eight-night itineraries reaching Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire, Turks & Caicos and Grand Cayman.
The line’s 2027 President’s Cruise sails on the renewed ship from 10–14 May 2027.
It also confirms Fort Lauderdale’s status as Royal Caribbean Group’s winter fortress — sister brand Royal Caribbean bases its brand-new Legend of the Seas at Port Everglades from October — giving British fly-cruisers two very different new products out of the same airport.
The question for British cruisers
Reflection herself becomes a fly-cruise proposition — but the more interesting thread for UK readers is the programme she’s part of.
Celebrity is working through its five Solstice Series ships one by one, and that class includes Celebrity Silhouette, the ship most familiar to British cruisers from her Southampton seasons.
If the “made new again” treatment continues down the class — Solstice done, Reflection next spring — the obvious question is when Silhouette’s turn comes, and whether a Grand Plaza, duelling pianos and smashburgers-by-the-pool arrive on a ship sailing from the UK.
Celebrity has announced nothing on that front; on this week’s evidence, the direction of travel is clear.
The bottom line
Fleet modernisation rarely makes exciting reading, but this one matters: it takes Celebrity’s most successful new-ship ideas and retrofits them into the mid-2010s ships that many British cruisers actually sail — and at Caribbean fly-cruise prices rather than new-build premiums.
A 2012 ship with 2025’s best venues is a quietly compelling proposition. If you’ve sailed Reflection before, she’ll be a different ship next spring.
