Your hotel points can now buy you a luxury cruise. Hilton and Explora Journeys have switched on their exclusive partnership, letting Hilton Honors members earn and redeem Points on the MSC Group luxury line’s sailings booked through Hilton.

First previewed in December 2025 as part of Hilton Honors Adventures, the tie-up goes live across all Explora itineraries — Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Iceland and Greenland, and the Caribbean.

It arrives a fortnight before the line’s biggest moment of the year: EXPLORA III, the brand’s first LNG-powered ship, launches on 24 July.

What members actually get

The mechanics: 10 base Points per US dollar spent on fares, Points redemption against sailings, and an exclusive 5% discount off all Explora fares when booking through Hilton channels.

Eligible sailings also count toward Hilton elite status — a detail frequent travellers will notice, since a week at sea now advances the same status as a week in hotels.

Status tiers carry their own perks at sea: Gold members get a welcome cocktail party with the ship’s leadership, Diamond members receive additional Journey Experience Credits, and the new Diamond Reserve tier adds a behind-the-scenes bridge tour (subject to availability) and private port transfers.

“The Stay defines the journey,” said Hilton’s Mark Weinstein of the thinking — with Explora guests invited into Hilton’s hotels in return.

Why it matters

For the millions of British travellers sitting on Hilton Honors balances, this is a genuinely new route into luxury cruising — and a way to test Explora’s “Ocean State of Mind” with points earned on work trips.

It also continues a wider industry pattern of hotel loyalty programmes reaching out to sea, as the big hospitality brands compete to keep their members inside one ecosystem for every kind of trip.

For Explora — the Geneva-based luxury brand of the MSC Group, with EXPLORA IV following in early 2027 and two more ships by 2028 — it opens the brand to a vast audience of affluent travellers who have never browsed a cruise brochure.

The bottom line

Loyalty crossovers often amount to marketing wallpaper; this one has real mechanics — points earning, points spending, a standing 5% discount and status recognition at sea.

If you hold Hilton status and have been Explora-curious, the maths of booking through Hilton now beats booking direct. That is not something loyalty schemes often manage.
